About our boarding cattery
At Takurua Vets we start from a place of caring deeply about every animal. We know that your cat will need cuddles and care while you are away and that your cat will need someone to advocate for them!
As a fully operational vet clinic we are able to assist with medication and chill protocols that you may have discussed with our team. We provide photo and video updates as often as we are able, that we hope will put your mind at ease.
Whether you are going away for a few months, or are looking for a place for your cat to stay while the relatives are over - we are here to help. We provide convenient online boarding cattery bookings that are reliable every time because we know you don't need that kind of stress in your life.
We are open for viewings and would love to show you around, but please understand that we have a small team and that we will prioritize the animals already in our care if you arrive at a very busy time.

We are excited to welcome your furry friend to our cattery in the near future. Here are some important details to ensure a smooth experience for your cat:
Vaccination Requirements
Your cat must have up-to-date vaccinations against cat flu. Please ensure these vaccinations were administered within the last 12 months.
Flea and Worm Treatments
It's essential that your cat is treated for worms and fleas and that these treatments are current to maintain a healthy environment for all cats at the cattery.
Special Offer
We will provide a 15% discount on vaccinations, flea, and worm treatments if done in our clinic in the months leading up to their cattery stay.
Personal items
In order to ensure a comfortable stay, we recommend bringing a familiar item from home such as a cat bed, favourite blanket or piece of clothing that smells of home. For longer stays 2-3 items that can be rotated is recommended. Please ensure all personal belongings are placed in a named bag/box.
Feeding
We have a selection of kibble/ biscuits available from various brands so please let us know your cats preference and we will try to accommodate this. If your cat is on a prescription diet or a particularly fussy eater, we ask that you please supply their food of choice. You can also supply wet food (pouches or tins) if you wish for your cat to have this regularly, If your cat is fed a raw diet, please get in contact as we have specific requirements around raw food to ensure we can safely feed your cat during their stay.
Drop off and pick up times
Weekdays between 8am and 6pm, Saturdays between 9am and 11am. Sundays by appointment. Should you require a drop off or pick up outside of these hours please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate your request. We look forward to welcoming your cat to Takurua Boarding Cattery.
Deposits and Refunds
Cattery reservations include a non-refundable 50% deposit which is due at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 1 day before arrival. Cancellations within 24 hours of arrival or no shows will be liable for the full boarding fee. Please notify us well in advance if your plans change.
Peak time bookings
For reservations during our busiest periods such as Christmas and easter. please secure the dates that you need for your cat early as capacity is limited.
Multiple cats
Please make a separate booking for each cat using the online booking system (1 cat per booking). There is no difference in pricing for sharing as we will spend time with, feed and monitor each cat separately during their stay. If you would like your family cats to stay together in a shared unit you can add a note to the booking informing us of your preference.
